Our Story

I was one of the founders of a community theatre we started back in 1999. The goal was to let everyday people experience the stage. The theatre evolved into a ministry. Our community became more like family. In 2019 we celebrated 20 years.
I'm a Dallas Theological Seminary alumnus. My emphasis was in Media and Communication. "Faith seeking understanding" was my goal. I wanted to know more than what was taught in church. I wanted to know God better.
From that journey, something was weighting heavy on my heart... my purpose. Why am I here? What can I do for God? I mean, I'm a theatre guy going to seminary.
Suddenly it hit me. Scripture on stage and other forms of media.
This is my journey to make that a reality.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 ESV
The Journey Begins...
I chose Joshua 1:9 to represent our purpose.
In order to be strong and courageous, we have to realize that God is with us no matter where we are.
Our strength and courage comes from him. I really believe that is why fear and anxiety exists: we think it is all on our shoulders. When in reality, it is a shared journey with him.
The dark days I've experienced usually involve a feeling of isolation or literally alone. And it's tempting to stay isolated - both in mind and body. We think it will lessen the pain.
But in reality it just prolongs the misery. We are not designed to walk alone.
J1:9 Productions uses a biblical foundation to show, through storytelling, we really don't walk alone.
